As you can see I am new here..I had a 96' Stratus which has been totaled. I have 6x9's (Pioneer 3 ways) and 6.5's (Pioneer 4 Ways). Will they fit in my Explorer?

Thanks.

Welcome to the board, and no those speakers will not fit in the stock speaker locations. The speakers in your truck right now are 6x8 all around though you could make those speakers work if you wanted. Do a search you'll find alot of info about fitting 6x9s and such.

Welcome to the site, where at in Blow Charles are you?

If you build an MDF plate in the size you need, as long as the speakers aren't too deep, they can be made to fit. The 6.5 will be very easy, and the 6x9's are possible.

I am in North St. Charles near 370 off N94. :scratches head:what are MDF plates?

home made adaptor plates to take a 6x8 hole and basically make a 6.5 hole fit there....

MDF=medium density fiberboard. Its a smooth uniform board made of pressed sawdust and resin.

Ahhh, I'm on kisker off 94

For my second question:

What size speakers are in my front doors? They look smaller than 6X8's. Someone told me that 2 door sport models are diff than other Exp's...so i'm stumped.

As far as I know all Explorers have always Been 5x7/6x8. I could be wrong however.
