N00b to Ford Explorers! Im new!

Well I just wanted to say I am new owner of a 1996 Ford Explorer XLT. Forrest Green Color. Very nice condition. Its all Stock. I would love to do some upgrades to the truck, but I have no idea what to do. Well I hope that some of you all can throw me some ideas and direction to this project. I really want performance out of this truck.

totally possible. if you aren't sure what to do, look at it this way, you can do EVERYTHING except suspension, wheels, and tires until you know what you want to do. you're doing to do a bunch of performance upgrades, and if you don't know if you want to go to heaven (lifting) or go to hell (lowering) you can always just wait.

Yeah not sure which way i want to go.. I know im not going to lower that straight to the ground... But i have decided on low profile tires or putting some big boys on there..

I would like alittle bit of both.. But really the Speed and Pick-up of the Car.. Plus i have been having alittle bit of trouble with it idling really weird sometimes and then its ok for a few days... Weird stuff.

Is your CEL (Check Engine Light) on? It likely is or soon will be if you're experiencing a rough idle. If it is, your first task is to go to an AutoZone or similar parts house that scans codes for free. Come back to the forum and do a search for the code you got. I can almost guarantee that every possible code has been discussed here. Once you know what your potential issue is, its time to start checking the respective areas. If you need any guidence along the way, we'll be here to help.
