According to the manual...

"Your system offers advanced map viewing comprised of both 2D city maps as well as 3D landmarks (when available). "

Maybe you just don't have any 3D landmarks in your area.

thats what i have been thinking. is there a site to go to see if i am in the area that has it?

My Garmin does that, but none in my area (althought the Garmin shows the mountains in 3D). I think I would have to drive into Los Angeles to really see any of that. Haven't seen any on MFT yet, but generally I prefer to keep my GPS units in 2D anyway.

I looked into this and found that per the MyFord Touch Supplement: "3D landmarks will appear when available on your current map. When in 3D map mode, these are clear, visible objects which are typically recognizable and have a certain tourist value."

To search for available 3D building icons in your area, go to the map screen and press the arrow icon repeatedly on the upper left side of the map screen, and then choose 3D Map Mode. If you would like to get additional information, please contact MyFord Touch Support at 800-392-3673 (option 3). Hope this helps!
