06 Ford Explorer limited
In my 06 Explorer Limited Navigation/radio/CD player option I understand that the 6 CD player will play burned CDs in MP3 format. Also I know that the Navteq Ford North American maps DVD is really a dual layer format which stores up to 8GB of map data. My truck came with version 06P and the latest version sold by Navteq is 10P. I did manage to find and burn Navteq version 8P which to my surprise works fine.

My question is has anyone burned MP3 music in DVD format instead of CD format and have them play in the Explorer's CD player? Also can I organize the MP3 music in folders by artists or better yet in albums by Artist? I would rather hear from someone that has some experience in this before I waste a lot of time.

Sorry if this posting is not within the scope of this forum I am still a newbie?

The 6-disk changer will only read CD's and the only DVD player is the hidden one used for the map disk. As to organizing the MP3's on your CDs, you can create subdirectories, which is what I do for albums. Each album is in a separate directory and then you can switch albums using the TUNE up/dn button, and selections within the album by using the SEEK up/dn button. If you switch the display with the on-screen TEXT button you can see either the artist/song or the directory/file name so if you name your directories with the album names you can see that displayed as needed. The shuffle button can randomly switch between all the albums on the disk.

Thanks... Now I know enough to plan and organize my music. Time to plan a road trip.
