Just got me a 1990 ranger 4.0l with A4LD, i believe i blew the front main seal. I was driving from FT Lewis Washington to Sacramento to visit family one last weekend before i deploy to IRAQ for a year... Dam truck started smoking and lost all its fluid out of the auto 2hrs north of sac.
The fluid was spewing out of the bell housing area when i parked it off the freeway... I have 24hrs to pull the tranny examine the problem and fix it before i have to get back to FT Lewis.
My truck had been puriodicaly over heating earlier that morning, and i stopped and replaced the fan clutch, and fixed the overheating. Im thinking due to the overheating i may have damaged the main seal and created pressure inside the tranny and popped the seal, what do you think? (im just speculating).
How hard is it to replace this seal?
ANY AND ALL HELP PLEASE!!!
