The trans is on its 3rd rebuild, and the builder is having problems getting it right. Went in because it wouldn't shift into the higher gears. Got the truck back and seemed very tight and would not start out in first gear. Back into the shop. Second try, this time it seemed to work better, but, after a few miles found that it would not down shift unless you really nailed it, plus it would shutter in reverse. Driving it back to the shop it failed to start out in first gear at lights. Now they have it back (third time).

Does anyone have any information that may help these guys?

Oh yea, the shop is used by the local Ford dealers.

thanks jerry

I would surely let them know to find a new profession... I hope you don't recomend these clowns to anyone.
On a serious note i would definately asked them what they are prepared to do if this time doesnt work... It's an obvious inconvenience, and fairly stupid that they cant get a simple rebuild right. If i were you i'd suggest they purchase a reman and install it if this rebuild doesnt work out.

Thanks Xpl0ere have made those points with the shop they are on their last try.

I have a question if the RPM hunts in over drive and the down shifts just give an RPM change and engine noise with no real increase in acceleration could this be the torque converter??
