I love the Edelbrock ISAs. I had them installed on my 99 Limited. Rather than saying everthing all over again. Go to this link for a long list of what others say. Dead Link Removed

Jim-I have a 91XLT with Rancho RS-5000 all around along with a Rancho steering stabilizer. The ride is alot firmer than stock which tranlates into great handling. I've had it on my Explorer for about four years and don't know why I didn't do it sooner. The shocks ran me $36 each. Won't take too long to install yourself with a jack and some common tools. There is also the Rancho RSX self adjusting shocks which is said to be like the Edelbrocks for $59 at Jegs-www.jegs.com. I'm running 31s with the stock suspension height with no rubbing.

So you like the ranchos? I too want to change my shocks on my 91 EB..I had ranchos on my old CJ 7 and loved them but everyone loves the eddys for the Explorer...Anyone else with RANCHOS?

I have the Rancho 9000 on my '91 for 3-4 years now and have had no problems with them at all. I like them because I can adjust the settings to my specific driving style and road/off-road conditions.

I have been running Rancho rs9000's for a while on my Explorer... I Ran them with stock suspension and 30" tires and now with a 2.5" lift with 31" tires. I love them. I have also removed the sway bars and setting the shocks to 4 give me the ride I want.. Relitivly(sp?) stiff but comfortable on the road and they work great on the trail. I am going to put on the in cab adjuster so I can change it from 4 to 1 when I get on the real rough roads in Mexico.. (it outright hurts to have it on 4 on those roads). I like being able to change the settings... I ended up on a 12 mile long washboard dirt road and love being able to change the settings of the shocks to keep my kidneys working.

Wil-I also ran the 5000s on my '85 Bronco II before I got my Explorer in '90. I felt it worked so well with my Bronco II that why go with something else? I also have a couple friends running the RS9000s. One on a F-150 and the other on a full size Bronco. They both have the in cab adjustments. Its a great system too.

Ok some ranchos guys...what do you guys think of the new rsx shocks are they worth lookin at or go with the 9000s.

Thanks for the great reply guys..

Wil -

I have not seen any postings on these new Rancho RSX shocks but from reading various articles and promo material, it seems like these shocks and the Edelbrock ISA shocks are about the same in functions and performance. May be check with a rep from Rancho and ask them about the functions and performance between the 9000 and RSX and then let us all know.
