Alright so when i bought my Lightning the previous owner had a spare trans and torque converter out of his friends drag Lightning that was rolled. Now I'm assuming since this trans came out of a drag truck it will have a shift kit and a high stall converter. Since I've owned the truck (going on 4 years) the trans/tc have just been sitting in my garage, and i have no idea how long they sat in the previous owners garage.

So, since i want to try and swap these into my truck should i just change the fluid, bolt it up and see what happens? Should i take it to a trans shop and have them inspect it (don't want to pay anything serious for this)? Would they be able to tell me if the stall on the tc somehow or if the trans is built/has a shift kit?

A torque converter rebuilder has equipment for testing a torque converter. Don't bother taking apart the valve body if it's working properly.

I have no idea if the transmission works properly thats the thing. I'd assume its good since the guy kept it after the truck was rolled.
