Year, Model & Trim Level
Explorer 1996, 5.0
Alright, I just recently bought a Ford Explorer. It is 2WD, automatic, 1996, 5.0 v8, XLT. Now if any of you could give me info about what tires i can put on my wheels (the luxery ones, that come with E.B. edditions) how much I would need to raise it, and how much, I also would need any extra things to make it nice, like a grill guard, lights, dual exhuast, wheels, tires, shocks, just about everything that you can imagine, and if you could please give me info on how much it will costs for stuff, and links that could give me prices and installation instructions. Also if you have sites where there are pics of your own Explorers, i'd like to see them, who knows, i might like it enought, to model my own off it. :)

Hey buddy, welcome to the boards.

I'll help you out a little bit. Well, i'm guessing you'd like to lift it alittle bit? You pretty much named the stuff that alot of us do. Dual exhuast is kinda hard to put on, especially if you have a trailer hitch and a spare tire. But some people do have it, so it is possible. I like roof racks with lights, a bunch of guys have them on here including myself. If you were wanting to raise it, you could do a torsion bar twist for the front and a shackle lift for the back and you can squeeze out 2". And get 31's and probably 32's. Since you're is a 2wd, you can do a spindal lift for the front, which is 4" i think, not really sure. There are a lot of opitions, more then some people think. Like Hartman said you can use the search button up top to find about everything you are looking for, but i thought i would help you out since you are new. You've come to the right place for help!

Happy trails!!

Definately get dual exhaust. Find a good local shop. I have heard anywhere from $200 - $500 for a complete setup.

why do you want to lift it? I'de say drop it 3", buy some cobra R rims and nice tires and start modding the engine. I doubt that you are going to get into serious offroading in a 2wd anyways... just my .02 though

Nah dont lower it. Maybe get 31" and to a TT and shackles. Then KKM for that v8, exhaust and chip. That 5.0 should haul nicely :p
