The real question is: do you need to pass emissions? If so, you need the K&N FIPK

It's not really bad persay. The K&N is carb certified, meaning it will pass emissions in most states (except mabey cali?), while the MAC isnt. The MAC is probably almost the exact same thing without hte legal status of certification, hence it costs less.

i live in texas is there any way to find out if the mac is legal in here and does that mean i would benifit more by getting the mac than the K&N horsepower wise.

Most people here go with KKM intake (present poster included :p ). I got mine for $104 shipped. Whether its KKM or Mac or K&N, its all the same- they will all give you some horsepower (10hp?) and 1 or 2 mpg (if any). The biggest difference will be the looks of each and the price. So the question is how much are you willing to spend for the looks?

you should be fine in Texas to run the Mac. you wont need the CARB sticker unless Austin has some kind of inspection i dont know about...

so in this case the more expensive intake (K&N) isn't better than the other (MAC) since they both give about the same horsepower. Because i really like the way the mac looks with the crome tube and i think that's the one i will go with.
thanks for all your help

probably so bacause thats the only place i have found it. it only comes out to $148 ship to the door

i think that for the amount of time it takes to change it to the stock intake pipe it is not worth worring about the sticker. also i have had great suckses with a K&N cone with a modified air box on the SOHC it was very cheap and made a tone more power. i am not shure if the smoth metal pipe helps any. also the heat soke from it mite hurt you as well.
