I started my own Jamest smoothie bumper a couple of weeks ago. I started sanding the chrome part of the bumper and it came out looking like brushed-aluminum. Looks pretty good, I thought. I don't know if this will rust overtime though.

Now should I keep that look or should I go for monochromatic look and paint the whole thing body color? I asked a couple of friends and they are like 50/50 on this. No help at all- so I figured I'd go here and get some advise. :D

I don't know how this would look like when painted all in tan unless somebody photochopped this for me. (hint hint ;) )

So, what do you guys think- keep it brushed-aluminum looking or paint it all tan? :)

if you like it like that all i would do is get some clear coat and pout over it. I think it would look better body color though. Thats what im doing to mine.

where did you get that air dam at?
how much?

is your truck sitting at stock height?

I think that's honest charlies air dam. or something like that.

Body color! It looks much better!

it shouldnt rust unless you did some serious sanding to go through the chrome to bare metal. but from the pic it looks like your ex is like a champagne color, maybe its just me but it would look a little awkward monochromatic in that color

My truck is lowered 2" rear and 2.25" front.

muncheese is right. It is an HC airdam. I got it at EE, believe or not. John V. got me a good deal on it but they normally do not carry them. I got it at a "one time deal" of $150 + $25 shipping. ;)

Is the dam made from plastic or is fiber glass?

what exactly are you doing to the bumper? are you doing the same thing that jamesT did?

i have plans of my own that i'd rather not share, but i want to make sure they are different than yours before i do them. i already know they are different than james' and more in depth.

Seriously, I was kidding. My vote is paint your truck black along with the bumper ;)

Seriously Nate, you've got some jealousy issues that you need to work out. You're worse than a girl if you read that much into that comment. I think your social life with Mr. Simmon's is screwing up your ability to think straight. I would break relations with him if I were you

More in depth than James!?! You're secret project is safe then because I'm not going that far. :) ... or am I? :p

Paint it all tan.....along with the running boards :D

You paid $175 for that airdam while you could've gotten it straight from HC for $150 shipped. :D

Anyway, just paint it all one color, including the grill.
