OK I think I have decided to go with the Orion XTR's (haven't decided on DVC or SVC yet). I need amp recomendations? Let me rephrase that, I need amo recomendations that will give good quality at a reasonible price. I have been searching ebay and sounddomain.com and have found some decent deals, but not sure what I should go with.

How do these amps brands rate... add more recomendations too.

audiobahn, us acoustics, kenwood?

Thanks for your help.

what about autotek? Like an SX-2200?

what is your price range?

I don't have a range per say. I am just tight and I want to get the best bang for my buck so to speak. I want good quality at an affordible price.

Audiobahn, Orion, Kicker, MTX, and US AMPS are all great amps. they underrate their amps. the power is rated at 12 volts.

if you want two subs, then get the dual voice coil subs. that way you can bridge it at 4 ohms mono. if you only want one sub, then get the single voice coil.

I bought a Lanzar Vibe215 (300 watt 2 channel) for my sub, and a Lanzar Vibe425 (1000 Watt 4 channel) for my MPQuart 5 1/4 rounds. I also got a Lanzar Vibe750 EQ (6 channel) to make the install easier. It looked like more sound than I would ever need for less money than I would have thought.

And no, I don't work for Lanzar... it just looked like the best value for what I was willing to spend. Adding it up in my head, I belive that was $350 ish for the 3 units plus shipping (Not counting any install kits you might need). They look soooo nice, it is ashamed they will be hidden away where the stock amp was.

I wish I could tell you how it all sounds, but I just now got the door panels off and pulled the stock speakers. One of the speakers had 3" of foam left hanging, the others had none.

I am assuming I will be overjoyed at the quality of anything I put in right now.

leenjen - I am actually getting two tens. haven't devide SVC or DVC yet depends on the amp I find.

Also, don't you think to maximize what I can do with these subs I should push more than 140W to each? Maybe 200+?

that's not the correct rating. it's actually 200X1 @ 12 volts. in your explorer, it probably puts out about 250-270 watts.

if you ever want to upgrade then i suggest getting the Audiobahn 275HC amp. and get single voice coil subs. then you can wire the two of them in parallel @ 2ohms mono. then you can add two more and have four subs wired @ 1 ohm mono. add a capacitor to keep the voltage up and that amp will put out around 1000 watts in your explorer.

that's how i ran my four 15" Orion XTRs

If that is the more realistic rating then what is something that is going to end up putting out about 200W(clean power) to each? (wired anyway. I am waiting to determine the DVC or SVC till I figure out the proper sub amp match.)

what about the AUDIOBAHN A2601x or A2301x 300 or Audiobahn A2300e 210W ?

These also don't give specs on 2Ohms, can they handle it? Also how do you figure what they will be pushing at 2Ohms? Bridged at 2Ohms?

the X series is last years model so they are hard to find right now. the Q series is 2002. the E series was 2000.

anyway, they are not high current amps like the 275 HC, so they are only stable to 4 ohms mono.

I see.

Any other thoughts, anyone?

Why do the audiobahn's get a less than good score on sound quality from users on sounddomain?

The Orion Amps seem to get better user ratings than the audiobahn amps so what about this one

that amp is a great choice. but make sure you get the single voice coil subs so you can wire it at 2 ohms mono.

anyway, i dont understand why the audiobahn amps received lower ratings for sq. they all have at least 100 dB signal/noise ratio. and audiobahn amps are used in a lot of sq competition cars. their class D and high current amps also have great sq that most manufacturers can't match with their high current models or class D's.

sometimes one bad experience will make someone dislike that brand.

Who knows...? Thanks for all of your input. When I get it pieced together I will throw up some pics! Definitely before the weekend!
