Calling all Explorer audio masters:

I'd like to add a CD changer to my truck, and I need to know how many pins the cassette deck's DIN plug has so I can get the right changer and/or wiring harness. The deck is OEM in a '97 XLT 5.0 and has CD changer controls. Any help would be most appreciated.

You have a few options. You can either just get a factory changer, or an aftermarket, which will most likely be the Sony. It sounds like you're going to install it yourself, so the best thing to do is try opening up the back anyway and taking a gander yourself too. If you run into any problems accessing the dash, there's tons of folks who can help you here.

If you're looking for a factory changer that should plug right in:

will offer you the adapters you may require for your adapter harness. I saw that for your year a $99 adapter was required for a Sony changer.
