I'm sure many have experienced this before on their 2006-2010 Explorers, but I need to buy a new engine wiring harness if possible. The problem is that Ford discontinued this part unfortunately, and I don't trust pulling a used one from a junkyard because more than likely it'll have the same wiring insulation issues, and maybe even worse since after pulling it off from bending it around and inducing the wiring issue by taking it off of a car.

Are there any aftermarket engine wiring harnesses available for my vehicle?

not sure, but i did find this, dont know if its got the updated wiring or not though 2007 Ford Mustang Engine Harness 7R3Z-12A581-BA | Varsity Ford
the later 4Gs iirc had better wiring, but not too sure. havent come across nothin aftermarket yet

The specs are 4.6, manual. I wonder if this would work on my automatic 4.0

I called Ford and my part number is 7L2Z-12A581-CB

Been searching for that one and I had no luck.
oh thats right i forgot ya had a 4.0 let me look around. wonder if a later JY harness from a 2010 or something could work cause the later ones were less susceptible to the damage.

Think I just found one.

Calling now to see if it's in stock. Wish me luck!

Have the same problem, did that wiring harness work? My Explorer is a 2007 V6 4.0L automatic 4WD.

I stopped getting random codes, but I'm now getting 2 consistent codes plus the stalling.

I did what I could with the 2 codes I received (misfire cylinder 2 and MAP sensor.) but they have not been resolved and I'm still getting rough idle/misfiring and stalling.

I'm suspecting now that the wiring issue has caused a short to the PCM.
