I just bought a 06 Explorer XLS a few months ago and I want to add Sirius too my radio. I went to the dealer and they told me $400.00 is their anyother way that I can do it myself. I am not gonna spend that much money on Sirius so if someone knows were I can get the parts on the internet Id appreciate it.

Best Buy

What a genius answer. Yes if you aftermarket headunit or fm modulated sirius go to best buy. He said ford wanted $400 which means he is trying to go factory. As long as you have the radio with the sat. button I believe you can add the tuner yourself. I am trying to figure out a way I can get the 06 radio and sat. tuner in my 2002. You can look on ebay, there are kits on there and you can also try google for some. Although by the time you are done with you might be at the same cost as the dealer. If you have the funds stay away from the plug and play or fm modulated units unless you get the extra antenna switch. I have a kenwood headunit with the kenwood sirius tuner in my 2005 Toyota and love it. I also head the factory radio in my 2002 explorer with a Sirius starbase ($170) in it and even though it is fm modulated it sounds a lot better than most, I found mine on ebay in brand new condition for $8.25 shipped.

just go to best buy and get a viper xv. about $500 install.

best alarm/remote starter in the market.

STAY AWAY FROM THE STEALERSHIP except if something fail and you are under warranty.

Or if you want to get exactly what he is looking for for under $100 plus free install.

There's the GM version of what you want. They gotta have Ford too.

Or go try eBay and Google.

There are kits on eBay.

P.I.E. might be another option

I have the factory Sirius in mine. I works with the AUX button. Looks like there are 3 AUX inputs and each of them can set 6 Sirius channels. I'll be pulling out the HU in the next 2 or 3 weeks, I'll see if i can figure out the model number and maybe take a few pics.

I'm also looking around for options for my new ’06. Sirius / XM integrated with my Nav unit for a clean install without some other display "glued" to the dash. The radio can decode and display Sat info so why not use it. My Nav radio also has a rear DVD attached and I've not found any after market unit that will work with this config. But I’m going to give it some time and I know some company will figure out how to make this work with my unit. Not the cheapest option but neither was my truck.

If your unit can "decode" satellite info, all you need is the receiver serial number (they show you how to get that in the owners manual), then call Sirius and you'll have satellite music in about an hour. The Explorers come with 6 months of free Sirius so you probably had it for a while and didn't realize it.

Agree that a lot of people have the Sirius unit installed and don't know it. Actually called Sirius to confirm and my VIN was not in their DB. The radio would display the sat ID if it had it. And I only assume that Ford (Visteon) would not make 2 different Nav units, 1 that can decode and one that can't, either. I could only know for sure if I actually hooked 1 up to the radio to see of the SAT option (new tab next to DVD) appeared.

FYI. The Nav unit is pretty cool and is touch screen. The DVD option actually is 2 because the rear unit has an AUX option.

thanks.
