Hi all,
Hope anyone can help me. My explorer has a major issue when I accelerate past 2000 - 2500 rpm and above. It shuuter violently and rattles to no end.
This started to happen about 2-3 days after a service (non ford delear) and on our way on a holiday trip.
I found that they had left the air cleaner housing off. Before we point the finger at the MAF, I will tell you the rest of the history.
What was serviced
Basic oil change and check the rest
New front disc pads installed.
So far all this has been checked.
Fuel Pressure - cheked ok - result 65psi (4 Bar)
new fuel filter x 2
dropped fuel tank and cleaned
new leads
new plugs
transmission checked OK
Cleaned MAF
Done engine vaccum test - all OK
Ran the Car with and without MAF still no change (reset PCM everytime)
Ford tested and pulled 2 codes
P0102
P0113
Cleared the codes and the only time i can get them to replicate is when I disconnect the MAF lead.
We have a done a drive test (and many of them) and have managed to replicate the fault every time but still no codes.
Have no engine check light on.
I have found is when I am in 4WD HI, not AUTO the problem does not seem to be there, when I switch it to AUTO again, it comes back. But there is not good sounds coming from the front end when in 4WD HI, sorry haven't tested LOW.
My model X is Built April 99 complide in Australia June 1999 XLT, 4.0L V6 SOHC, Auto, classed as the UQ model in Aust, I beleive it is the EEC-V model motor. The MAF is the 6 wire connection.
If you need anymore info just let me know.
Cheers
