Okay i need some major help here. My gf`s explorer needs help. Its a 97 explorer sport control trac with the 4.0v6 it has 253,x.. kms on it and still going. The engine lights on and she tells me the shop said the egr is no good. What i need to know is...is there a how to video or pics on here somewhere on how to change it im sure i can tackle this. Also the temp guage is going up and down and were getting no heat in the vents at all. My guess is thermostate but not sure any ideas and if so any pics or vids would help alot thanks.


.ps im new here thanks for helping ....im often found on tdiclub site as i work on mine alot dont really work on this changed the oil for the first time in it and wow what a spot to put the filter pita that was. again thanks alot really need to fix this up for her.

* also a cheap place to order parts for it to canada would also be very helpfull.

Can't help you with any of these issues, but would like to see pics of the vehicles... :D

Post a couple pics of the engine compartment of the vehicle in question... Lots of people here can point these things out and show do a "how to" for you...

Check the tech tips area for answers... oh, if you damage her car will she be okay with that? Good luck!
 






egr and temp problems

I had the egr issue also-changed the egr valve with no help. It was the egr valve sensor and air lines/sense line clogged that run from sensor. the temp souns like a therm. mine is also acting up/running cold right now. hope it helps! no special tools needed-both easy jobs for average mechs. 1-2 hrs.
 






How'd you do it?

You got directions for papi so he can keep his gata happy and get that ride fixed? Any special tools needed? How much time to fix?
