Hello all,

I am looking to do a transmission service on my 2004 Eddie Bauer. The transmission has been shifting hard, especially into reverse, and has some odd shifting points. I have read several threads on this forum and felt prepared to tackle the job.

I ordered what I thought was a new Ford OEM solenoid pack from Amazon.

Here are some pictures of what I received: picture 1, picture 2, picture 3, picture 4, and picture 5. It is difficult to tell in picture 4 but there are a couple half-inch long holes in the plastic bag.

This solenoid pack, not only is opened, appears used to me. I started writing to the seller to ask for a return but thought I would check here first. What do you guys think?

Thanks for your time!

Sure looks like it's been in the fluid already. I wouldn't chance it myself, since it's not a job I'd want to do even once, much less twice.

They do come packed in fluid. Double check the part number on it and let us know, that should help figure out if it is new. I would recommend sticking to getting them straight from a dealer like Tasca, as it is the same price and definitely new.

Can you please tell me where I should find a part number? I see a few markings on it and I can list them all if that would be helpful.

Get a return authorization. Even if it's not a used componant, I wouldnt trust it to function properly after being beat up in a box like that without any protection...

Packaging concern aside, if it's been used, it'll have marks where the screws tighten down on it.
