I am having problems with my 4x4.....

when i press the 4x4 button on my dash only sometimes will it go into 4x4... and only sometimes it will come out!!!! It has been stuck before and I cant get it out.....

well what happens....

when i push the button I hear a few clicking noises... which is some type of relay inside the truck....

I took the little electric motor off the T-case tonight and had the girlfriend hit the 4x4 on and off.... sometimes the motor would engage and sometimes it would just a little and then reverse or just stop....

anyone have this problem???? I the relay to blame or the motor itself....

the thing is once in 4x4 and then shifting to low the motor works perfect...

are there 2 seperate relays??? one for the 4x4 and one for the low range???

thanks for any help to tracking down my problem and getting it fixed before the next snow!!!

It sounds like you have the same problem as mine, the transfer case shift motor needing cleaning. I was steered towards the Singleton maintenance site for an excellent description of how to do this. That's most likely all you will need to do.

Yes- thanks for the info... read over it and gave it a shot--- my 4x4 is working great now- minus the hubs that are shot.... hopefully the motor stays working!!!!

I should have my new warn manual hubs tomorrow!!!
