Not sure, I lost 4lo a while back also, Replaced the transfercase fluid with Royal Purple ATF and it magically came back....Might want to try that?

if you have 4hi you should have 4lo. i know with the auto tranny you need to be in nutral an stoped to get 4lo to come on, also takes a few feet for it to engage. also could be your dash switch as your saying there is no sound from the controler. if the control box is putting it into 4hi it should be able to switch it to 4lo.

4 high works great takes like 1 second to kick in and out, but you hit the 4 low low button ya got nothin. when im trying to put it in, im stopped in 4 high clutch pressed and not moving and still nothin.

There's a brown wire that goes from the shift motor to a sensor in the T-case. It's the neutral sensor and if the wire is broken/damaged or missing, then you won't be able to get 4 lo as the computer module won't sense the truck in neutral, even if it is.

Ok il check it out, the shift motor I got from oreillys didnt have wire leads in the harness for the brown wire and the other sensor that is held on with the bracket from the shift motor. I cut the wires back behind the harness and butt connectered them together with heat shrink wrap, might not have a good connection.

Never knew that for 4WL you had to have it in 4WH and have it in in the "N" position.... my 92 EB you could be in park and put it in 4WL.... weird!

Ya...I did the same with mine. My new shift motor harness didn't have the lead for the brown wire sensor so I cut the wires off the old shift motor and connected it to the new ones.

well, the shift motor takes the t-case THRU 4 hi on the way to 4 lo.

but, yes, you need to be stopped, with trans in neutral (and with stick, clutch pedal pressed).

another bad switch could be the clutch triple function switch (also has the neutral start switch on it).
