I read my Key On Engine Off code using this scanner I rented from autozone (thanks to this forum for the tip!). I was able to read my KOEO code (loose gas cap) and clear it.

But I can't seem to run the Key On Engine On test and could use some help.

The procedure I read about says "after the engine code is sent to turn the wheel 1/2 turn, press the brake, cycle the OD button". I am assuming you have to do this correctly to trigger the test to start running.

But the scanner does not seem to pick up the engine code, thus I don't know when to start the user inputs (above). I pressed the 'read code' button on the reader and it says 'passed', however I really don't know if the test ran at all.

So my questions are: how does one start the Key On Engine Running test (the above sequence of steering/brake, etc?) and then actually read the codes?

Thanks.

With this Scanner you have to press SCAN buton and scroll down a couple of lines to get to the KOER test

OK, I'll do that.

How does one actually start the KEOR test?

(or am I making it too complicated and you just start the engine and press 'scan')?

yep just start the enigine and press scan and scroll down to KOER and press enter to start the test and the scanner will tell you what to from there.

still confused

I still don't think I'm running the KEOR test at all.

My scanner is an Actron CP9135, not the Autoxray I stated above.

It does not have a menu option "KEOR" test.

With the engine running, I press 'READ' and it says 'PASS' right away.

From reading about the KEOR test on aother threads I gather that there is some
'user input' required (brake, steering, OD on/off) to do the test and that the engine does not remain at idle? Is this correct?

I think that the "pass" u are seeing is from a previous test, most of the scanners retain their test results from the last test that was performed.

And yes u are correct there are user inputs needed during the test like the ones u described already.
