In my '96 Eddie Bauer, the OEM JBL radio/amp/subwoofer was working fine 'till the other day. Now it turns on and everything works, but the volume is 1/4 of what it should be and its static-y/distorted as well. Same problem with radio or CD changer. Is there an obvious place to start looking for the problem?

i would say that the amp has been blown probly. best bet is to get an aftermarket headunit and a wire harness kit. it only took me 1 1/2 hours to get mine all set up and in stalled. check out the explorer audio forum, they may be of more help.

Same thing happend to mine a while back. What probably happend is that the amp is toast, and that rear sub put out alot more sound than you realized. Without it, my stereo sounded awful. I simply bought another from someone here on the board for like $40, or you could go the aftermarket route.
