2001 Sport Trac
Hi everyone,

I have a 2001 sport trac 4x4 and I love it. I'm joining the site to get some help with a couple small problems the truck has recently developed.

Problem 1: While in 4wd the "4wd light" will click on and off while driving. I'm not sure if the 4wd is actually disengaging or if it is just the light, because it seems to randomly turn off and then back on rather quickly.

Problem 2: While lightly applying the brakes (in all weather conditions), the brake pedal will pulse like the abs is activating (when it doesn't need to be) and the truck will keep rolling instead of stopping until I push hard on the brake pedal which causes the brakes to grab and abruptly stop the truck.

any help on either of these problems would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

The Ranger I used to have would do that and it had rear drums like a 2001 Trac.
The problem was worst early in the morning. Dealer said that the rear brake shoes would absorb moisture and grab until they dried out. They put new rear brake shoes on and it was fine after that.

thanks for the info Donner and Johnny....it's greatly appreciated.
I will take a look at both of those options.
