my ex is a manual, but when im in like 2nd gear and the engine decelerates to where its ready to stall i get a loud click in the driveline somewhere.

i live just north of gboro in summerfield. i mite be able to help u out but i would have to see it in person. hit me up if u need help

ok im an idiot. ive owned this truck for 3years and never knew the drive shaft had grease fittings. greasing them minimized the vibration for about an hour, then it came back, but still not as violent. is it safe to assume the u-joints are gone? there is no play whatsoever.

i replaced the rear u-joint on the axle and the needle bearings were completely gone in one of the u-joint caps. they just disapeared into thin air. ALL of my drive line problems are gone now.

You are lucky you caught it before it let go and grenaded.. it could have fubared the drive shaft and been a more expensive fix..

very lucky. the front u-joint on the rear d shaft has no resistance at all, but there really is no play at all. but it is 20 yrs old, should i go ahead and pull the trigger and change it too?

Absolutely.. it's a cheap fix and insurance to take care of it now..

the only u-joints i dont even want to think about replacing is the front axle
