Hi I'm brand new to the forum. I have a Blue 93 Explorer Sport with Auto tranny, ABS and push button 4x4. After allowing my reckless younger brother to use my Explorer for a year I'm gonna need a lot of advice. For now I just have a question for my center console. It has come loose. How do I remove it or get at the bolts or screws that I can tighten it back down with? The whole thing wobbles back and forth.

Other problems I'll need help with.
1. 4x4 won't engage. What happened to it?! and how can I get it to work again? I hear a clicking sound when the button is pushed in the rear of the truck but that's it.
No 4x4 help. I'm a big do it yourselfer but don't know where to start on this.
2. Steering seems very loose and has too much play. Too much assist ect... How do I stiffin it up?
3. Gas gauge stopped working. How do I fix that?

Thanks very much guys, Glad to have found this forum.

4x4

I can help with your 4x4 problem. Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with your other problems.

The clicks you hear are coming from the control board in the jack storage area in the back. If you pull off the panel and look to the right of the jack, you will see a black control board above the wheel well. There is a white button at the bottom and two (gray?) connectors attached at the top left side. If you remove the two gray connections (not easy, but do-able) and push the white button (may have to have the key in and on ACC, don't remember) it will either give you a flashing red light or a steady red light. If it is steady, the problem is the control board itself. If the light flashes, it's your transfer case motor.
The problem usually ends up being the latter. If you search under Transfer case and 4x4, you should find a lot of info on cheap fixes for this.
If the light is steady, I would assume you need a new control board. I haven't heard of anyone having that problem before.
Good luck with your other problems.
