Need help with my V8 swap

The V6 radiator I'm pretty sure is the exact same as the V8, given I do have the newer 98 radiator which is a two core radiator. The factory fan and shroud I'm pretty sure would have fit.. but I just didn't have them since they were transfered to the wrecked explorer when we repaired it.

I will have pics and sound clips when everything is done with.

We got it moving and on the road today... VERY LOUD with no exhaust. Temp. stays perfect with the fan, the only thing that is a couple questions:

that O/D Off light is flashing along with the airbag light.
And the trans. feels that it doesn't hit first gear, it takes a lot to get the thing to move... but again the trans. has been sitting for 6 months so I figure it's just sticking.

Here's a good front view after driving it around awhile...

And here's how I will try to place my exhaust exit locations.. exactly the same for the other side.. duals basically on 45's

Yea I have all my O2 sensors... I'll recheck hough and make sure that all of them are plugged in... I should have a sound clip by the end of the day.

Great job! I just stumbled upon this thread and read through the whole thing. I love that you got this thing sorted out! I see so many swap threads on here that just dead end and are never completed. I love to see someone with the ambition and drive to do an awesome swap and see it to completion without giving up. This thread by itself will be a great reference for anyone attempting a similar swap. Congratulations!

Well it ended up being the valve body, but luckily we hard another one of those.. and now it runs GREAT... made it all the way to Indy with it after putting about 65 mi. on it before leaving... sounds great too... I'll forsure have to get a soundclip up....

lets hear it bro and do a video clip of u driving it too

alright... here comes the issues..
Vacuum leaks... they're everywhere... since we couldn't figure out where all the dang hoses went.
And then I still have a couple exhaust leaks.

The problem I'm having is it doesn't like to idle with a load(in gear) and then it basically has NO acceleration until like 2K RPM then it hammers and runs great.
And I believe it's because of the vacuum leaks

V6 vacuum lines

I can't help with the V8 but here's a list of vacuum lines on the V6 upper intake manifold.

1. left rear: power brake booster

2. left rear: PCV valve "T"

3. right rear: PCV valve "T"

4. right rear: (splits into three lines with two lines splitting again into two) fuel pressure damper, EGR vacuum regulator, fuel vapor management valve below battery compartment, vacuum reservoir bulb below air filter enclosure, heater water control valve

5. left center: IAC valve inlet (short flexible hose and rigid tube)

6. right center: fuel vapor management valve (Y connection with 7 below at front of engine)

7. left center: fuel vapor management valve (Y connection with 6 above at front of engine)

Also, does the V8 have a PCV inlet port on the right valve cover that connects to the main intake tube?

Thanks streetrod,
I'm sure that info will somewhat help out,
when i come home for the weekend again I'm going to try to get joedirt to let check out his engine capartment

Really... badass to know there are more as well... I know a couple farther south of us but stanton/westolive is like 10 mins. from me.

I'm in indianapolis right now for school but I'll hit ya up when we get something planned.

i'm actualy in bigrapids for school now lol.

so silver lake is only like 45min away =]

nice, it would be an hour away from zeeland/holland, but it would be like 6-7hr. drive from indy and that would suck

i <3 this thread.

I really wonder how much of a difference there is in the later model sport wiring harness and the earlier ones?

anyone care to shed some light.

talking 01+ sport 4.0L sohc vs explorer 5.0L 98-2000

Impressed, Jealous, and Subscribing!! The 4.0 OHV has been solid but sure leaves alot of HP to be desired.

fixed alot of the front end issues.. I had another toasted wheel bearing thanks to the roasted upper and lower control arm bushings. That was just the driverside... The passengerside needed a new upper control arm, just the half with the ballhjoint because the upper was gone... the lower still needs replaced but it'll be fine for now. Still need another sway bar link... this'll be the third I've snapped... ohh well.. glad they're under warrenty.
For some reason I can't get my vids/sound clips to load from my phone... the video comes up... but no sound.. so I'll work on getting those up...

Engine Swap A/C questions

1. Will the V6 A/C compressor unit bolt on to the V8 A/C compressor mounting bracket? Or does the V8 A/C compressor have to be used?

2. Does the V6 A/C condensor have to be replaced with the V8 A/C condensor or can it be left in place?

3. What about changes to A/C lines?

4. I'm planning to have two complete vehicles before and after the powertrain swaps (4 door SOHC V6/5R55E and 2 door V8/4R70W). I want to minimize A/C changes. It would be great if I could just leave the A/C pressurized, lay the compressor aside while removing the V6, and then bolt it back up to the V8 when installed.

I think all FS-10 compressors are similar - so if thats the case, it should all bolt on. However, I'm not sure you can get away w/o depressurizing the system because of the "hard" lines.
