Need help with my V8 swap

Ohhh I will post a sound clip when it's done, I'm actually going to redo the exhaust...

Ok, here's the bad, I talked to that trans. guy. And he can't get to working on the trans. until July 22nd, and he now wants 350-400... That won't work for me, I'm leaving for school on the 16th.
So... I went back to the original option... and bought that AODE/W from my freind... pulled it along side of the other, and they're exacly the same... then I read the tags, and the original from the explorer is also an AODE/W...

The engine compartment is so HuGe with nothing in it. So I painted the firewall, and put the V8 brain in.

We also started painting some components...

I based the intake off of what Proformz has done.

But I'm painting the block different.

The heads will be blue and the valve covers will be silver, all the accessorie brackets will be semi-gloss black... and all of the paint is the duplicolor engine enamel I believe.

looks like it's coming along nicely & in a timely matter. hope the end result is worth it and everything works out for school.

good luck.

Thanks,
It's a little hard to get more done when the parts haven't arrived yet. So basically we get all the small things done.

Oh, would anyone know what model that T-case would be even with those junky camera phone pics...???

Here's some better pics. of the intake.

Man I admit I had no faith in this swap when you first posted.. but you've proved yourself.. you're moving right along.. keep it up!

We're still just waiting on parts in transit...

After some research... the transfer case seems to be BW 1345

Well, nothing much added yet... STILL waiting on parts... I'm sick of fed-ex, never using them again... $27 shipping and it's been 5 days. My brother is going to make a run to Indiana, to my cousins shop to pick up a cam, it's out of one of his 'stangs, and he doesn't need it and decided to give it to me, so that's AWESOME... My injectors came today, used but look brand new... thank you ebay... that's all for now.

i don't know if youll be able to squeeze that t case under the truck, I think someone on here has tried the that and said it wouldn't fit, as we all now a BW 4406 would fit and a 4404 would fit but a special adapter is needed so you might want to look into that before you get everything bolted up

I think I'll have to deal with what I have... and I'll make it work if I have too..

Got all my rebuild stuff in this morning... and I just got out of work so I'm going to work on it right now...

Once the motor is sitting pretty in the engine compartment then we'll see if that t-case and trans combo will fit up between the framerails/gastank.

subscribing to this.... are you gonna use the BW4406 elec shift tcase? what rear shaft are you using?

Si

Nope... I don't have a bw4406 or 4404,

It's the manual t-case bw1345 I believe... I didn't want to have a electric t-case anymore.. I trust a manual alittle bit more than electric...

We pulled all the bearings,pistons,crank.
Already have the crank back in with the new bearings.. working on the pistons now with new chromoly rings and bearings...
so I'll be back on later... had to take a short break from working to eat...

The problem with the 1354 is where the front driveshaft comes out it will hit the front crossmember, that is the advantage to the 4406 it came from a ifs equipped truck.

Ok, here's some more pics.

Pistons pulled.. changed to new chromoly rigs and new bearings.. (not in pic)

Here's the best stuff you'll find to clean up cast aluminum... my brother got it from his work, they use it on the dump trailers though... you can find it sometimes at truck stops.
It's from California Customs.

Just look how well it did on the intake manifold

Here's the block painted before going in, my brother broke the timing cover, so he's got to get another one. The accessory brackets are black, timing cover will be silver.

Very cool man! Keep it up:D:thumbsup:

Thanks,

WTB, I need to find a timing cover for a "97" V8 explorer. Local junkyards so far don't have any V8 explorers... and a new one is between $125-$130...

Excellent work so far dude! I like the color choice. I did the blue/silver combo as well.

Yep tried it, not much, I bought a new one off of a store on amazon for like 85 bucks plus shipping.

Well I got super lucky today... I went to a garage sale today that was advertised with a bunch of mustang parts... well spent five bucks and got a phelonic spacer, and a electric fan... so that was a great deal... I had to go to work. That's what sucked.. from 11:45-7.. at Arby's.. But I should/WILL have this swap done by the end of next week... I kinda have to since that's when I head out to school.
