My '99 Sport's check engine light has been turning on and so I finally took it to my mechanic to check it out. We found out that one of the oxygen sensors was not working, so we changed that out. It was running fine until the next day when the light came back on. So I went back we ran the test and found out that another sensor was out, we then changed the remaining two sensors left. It was okay up until a couple of hours later, when the light came back on.
My questions are: Has anyone had this problem? If so, how did you fix it? Any ideas anyone, let me know please!!!!

I have the same exact problem. The mechanic said to change two o2 sensors. I never did. I disconnected the negative battery for a few minutes. The light hasn't come back on yet......

It would help to know what the actual P series code was.. If you have an Autozone in your area, take it in for a free scan.

Codes don't show up right away after disconnecting the battery. The PCM has to run through a few scans, so the light will come back on if the problem still exists. If a part isn't setting the proper mixture (stoichiometry), the O2 sensor will detect it, and display a code. This doesn't always mean that the O2 sensor is defective. It's not the only part that could throw a code.

cel

hey might pay to replace intake gasket .it will show up as o2 sesor and running lean
:)

Thanks so much for the response! We actually, finally figured out that it is some of the wiring that connects to the O2 sensors. But thank you again for the input, it helped me out a lot. As always keep up the good work!
