1999 Ford Ranger
Hey guys, i don't post much on here but this would probably be my best bet to get some information.

I have a 99 ranger, with the expo 5.0 tranny and awd tcase.

i want to swap in the f150 bw4406 manual shift, but possibly the electric shift if its less work.

(i can't find linkage/really any tcase around my area, but i can find electric shift ones for cheap)

So what kind of problems would I come across trying to wire up the electric shift tcase vs the manual shift one?

Thanks.

If your truck originally had the e-shift 13-54 then it should be able to control an e-shift 4406 (not the Torque-on-demand or A4WD found in some Expeditions) with the stock electronics. I havent proven it yet, but I know they use the same shift motor.

yeah from reading around on a few swap threads thats kind of what i learned too. someone went with the a4wd one and swapped the gem and everything buttoned right up.

just would like some more info or the okay to go ahead and purchase one.

anyone have the part # for the plain jane eshift 4406? it would be out of a f150 since they never came with the a4wd or tod cases right?

i thought at one time i had saw something that a 4406 in a ranger was a really tight fit. not because of the fuel tank front brace, but the drivers frame rail.

yeah it is a tight fit, but its been done a ton of times and i've seen one in person too.

Manual shift would be easier IMO if you can locate one
