Spindle nut should have a keeper and a cotter key. Arne.

Manual hubs??
i took a dremel and notched the nut where the auto key use to go,then used a auto hub nut key..

others have drilled and tapped holes in the nut, then added a set screw..

The outside nut can be tq HEAVILY also to prevent it..

I have manual hubs .

There should be two nuts with a washer that has holes around it between the two nuts. Those two nuts should be locked into each other. That's what keeps it from coming loose. Then there is a snap ring that clips onto the spindle that keeps both nuts from backing out completely and falling off.

I had that issue and fixed it with a little blue locktite. Just clean any grease off the spindle threads. Worked for years.

Does anyone have pic of what that might look like together.?
