1999 Explorer XLT 4.0 OHV
http://www.golsn.com/listings/automotive/cars-trucks/passenger_cars/3285371.html

I bought a red 99 last year. Same basic vehicle except it has the V6 OHV engine in it. The guy has this listed as an AWD but says its a V6. I emailed him and he said he got at an auto auction. If its truly the V8 AWD i would love to buy it if its in good shape. Do you think its a fair price that he's asking? I already have a red one but i would splurge for another if the price was right..

Also its about a 2 1/2 hour drive from where i live to where the vehicle is located..

I would imagine he does not know what it is. It is either a V6 and probably 4x4 instead of V8 AWD.

The engine picture shows a SOHC 4.0L

Sounds like he doesn't know the difference between AWD & 4WD

it's a 4.0L SOHC V6. it may be 4WD, but it's not AWD. personally i would'nt touch a SOHC V6 with 242K miles on it and his price is too high. i just bought a 2000 Mountaineer V8/AWD with 151k in GA for $2,000. it needed a muffler, an outer tie rod end, a thermostat and a good cleaning. runs and drives great.

I wouldn't do it. Not for that price at least.

I wouldnt buy anything with that many miles unless it was much cheaper and you were willing to basically rebuild everything.
