I have a feeling that Ford has given me the wrong spark plugs for my 99 SOHC.

The part # of the plugs they gave me and that I already installed are:

AGSF22FM F6
Stock number 6100?

Can anyone here please clarify if these are O.K. to use in my SOHC engine.

The reason I ask is that I refered back to the owners manual after I installed them and the part # is different... Also, I am now experiencing light backfire after heavy throtle in park. I also get a little suge at idle at red lights now.

Please help me clarify...It's my B-day! :D ;)

Thanks!

Oh, I used electrical contact grease in the boots. May I have added to much? I applied about just enough to cover the ID of the boot hole at the very end.

OK I answered my own question. The answer is yes for both ohv & sohc.

I used a .051 gap and the info I found for these plugs mention .054.

Will .051 of a gap be sufficient?

It was my compromize for .048 that others had suggested and .052-.054 on the engine tag.

Thanks!

happy birthday!

and .03 of a misgap wont hurt anything...... how are your plug wires? they may be damaged, and if they are, could easily be the source of misfiring.....

Thank you jimabena! :D

The funny thing is that I was so proud of myself for how well and quick I changed out the spark plugs, and thought to myself... I never swore once! Well that was until my very last plug (#2). I ripped the boot off
Well then I swore...lol. I repaired that wire, and still had this engine miss, so I replaced that today with a single wire from the dealer (yes, they sell singles)thinking this will fix it. Problem is still there.

I may have torn another one, just that it's not as obvious. I can't find my DVM for the life of me...

I was going to buy a set of taylors, but they would of had to be ordered, and I need a quick fix.

Have a great day!

J...
