NEED QUICK INFORMAITON – CV grease mixed with axle grease – did I create a problem?
I put some axle grease in my CV Boot last night – about 2 – 3 table spoons – I have not driven it, yet – did I create a problem or will the axle grease be OK mixed with the CV grease that came from the factory, ref small amount? Would like to know the answer prior to driving the Explorer. It is a 2000 Sport 4x4 automatic.

CV is an axle and axle grease is what is in a CV

unless you are saying you put in diff fluid?

You'll be fine. A CV-Joint is part of an axle you know...no problems at all.

come to think of it, live axles dont use grease, they use diff fluid... therefore axle grease is CV grease

Sorry, I should have said wheel bearing grease mixed with CV grease - is this a problem if I only added 2 -3 table spoons of wheel bearing grease

shouldnt be a problem but noramlly you arent supposed to mix differnt greases together because different grease has different lubricant properties for a reason msot often times....

Axle grease and bearing grease are typically the same

410, that was his dilema, he was tripping out because he said he put bearing grease instead of CV grease and was paranoid
