ok i have the opportunity to get either a 97 tj dana 30, completely running and in great shape or a 83 waggy dana 44 that needs rebuilt. What should i pick???? would a d30 hold up to 38's??

Go with the D44. It will be a stronger axle. Espcially going with 38's

UHHH, with 38's? D44 if not D60.

ok yeah i know dumb question yeah yeah...i went and got the d44, now comes the fun huh. so where do i get the 5 lug conversion?

just keep the 6 lug and convert the back to 6 lug. Have a set of aftermarket shafts made for the 8.8 with a 6x5.5 lug pattern.

or go the the junkyard and find any straight axle ford d44 and take the knuckles out and bolt them onto your axle.

i already have rims/tires for a 5 on 5.5.....also another question...if im not doing any rock climbing or crawling do i need hysteer? alll i do is play in the mud

I would say that depending on your leaf setup, if you do SOA or not you might want to look into it. If not both, you might just shoot for doing it on the right knuckle and run your drag link to that.

it will be soa

With leafs if you want it to drive right you need to do cross over to make it right. By the time you get the parts to do it especally with a 30 it will be cheaper to go coils. I did leafs and I am getting ready to hack it off and do coil/coilovers. It doest work as well as I would like it to.
