The tires will fit the stock rim
Have a local shop pull the codes for you for the answer to your check engine light.
What is the purpose to the poll?

30 x 9.5 will fit the rim, more importantly, it will not rub anywhere.

To help on the check engine light, we need to know what codes are stored. You can have a mechanic pull them, or you could stop at wal mart and get a code reader for about $25 and get them yourself.

Or, I have a code reader Id sell you, but with shipping and stuff, you might have to wait a few days before you could pull them.

Thanks

With the code reader that you have, once you pull the codes, how do you interpret them? Where do you plug it in to read the codes? I have a 98 EB. How much are you asking?

The 30 x 9.5's should fit the rims without any problem. but your going to have to install them to really see if the're going to rub. Tollerance stackups on the explorers greatly differ. Some explorers can handle 31x 10.5's without any mods others can bairly fit 29x9.5's.
As for the error code, I would suggest clearing the code first. If you disconnect the battery for a minute and then reconnect the battery it will clear the code. If you really have a problem the error code will come back. Thats when I would invest the money twords getting the code read.

Econo code reader is for pre 1995 Explorers only...

Code readers for 1995 and up are much more expensive.
The code reader comes with complete instructions and displays codes with a series of flashing lights with long or short spaces in between. You write it down as it sends them, then refer to the instruction book to see what the codes are.
Even if you aren't planning on doing your own repairs, it's good to know what is popping the check engine light.
