I have a Lexus LS 400 4 door. It's black with gray trim. I'm wanting to tint the windows but am clueless when it comes to tint % etc. I want to do the rear glass, the rear side glass. Can I do a little tint on the front side windows? I want it to be legal in Ca so I don't have to deal with the Johnny Law. So what do you guys think???

What you guys got something against window tinting????

I don't you can tint the fronts at all. the lower the % the darker it is. So 5% is like limo I think yet 20% is not as dark, but probally most common.. I nned to have the wifes volvo tinted, just havn't gooten to it.

Thank ya sir! Now I at least understand the %. I'll call a tint shop and see what they say.

I recently tinted my Econoline and I think in most states, the darkest you can have is 35% for the windows they care about. Search Google, state tint-laws are all over the place. Here's one: http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/CA/

Ok for the rear glass and the two side rear windows its $150 and for all 5 its $220. The front sides can be 77% in CA. Thanks for the replies!

That price is for pre-cut?

EDIT: lol nevermind, I just remembered that you called up a tint shop. So I guess thats an "out the door" price.

Si Senior!

It dosn't have the little 1/4 windows on the rear doors right (like on our explorers)? Because they count that as a seperate window at some places:rolleyes:

Good point. No they are one piece windows. She goes in next Wed. Thinking about doing the X but I know as soon as I get them tinted I would bust one.

Regardless, make sure the tint place has lifetime guarantee on their tint. If not, look elsewhere.

Thanks that is also good advice.

So I was thinking I don't want limo tint, thats to dark and a pain in the ass to see out at night what % do you guys recommend?

20% is the darkest you probably want. Limo tint is usually 5%.

I think I used 35% on the rear-most two windows of my van and its fine at night. But the side windows are limo tint and I often have to ask my friend wether or not its safe to merge when driving that thing at night (also because its so long).
