I apologize if this has been covered. I have an infamous 'thump' sound coming from the front end, near the center. It only occurs when I'm turning the wheel hard in one direction. I've already replaced the RA Bushings and I just replaced the Axel Pivot Bushings. Any ideas as to what may be causing the thump would be handy.

Thanks

okay, just asking. if someone else sees it they may have some inspiration as for what it coudl be.

does it occur going hard both ways? or just one way? like only when turning hard right? or hard left?

i'm thinking it may be something concerning the steering, but as for what i have no idea... i'm still learning about the suspensions on these things.

No worries, you're helping me by askin me questions that i didn't think of to answer in the first place.

I'm not too sure if it happens both ways, I don't believe it does. I'll go out and play with it some more tomorrow. I took my explorer out tonight for a run after I finished replacing the axel pivot bushings and when I had to come to a hard stop the same clunk happened.

...My first guess would be the RA bushings followed by the axle pivot bracket bushings...

...Since you replaced those I would look for missing bushings on your shocks, check your front wheel bearings, and check your calipers and their pins...

If i sit at a stop, and kind of let off the pedal then hit it hard my explorer bounces with each stop i get a thunk.

i think the squeaks from the front end is just a matter of replacing things and cutting down the list.
