So the driver seat in my 98 is KILLING my ciatica. I'm 29 and sound like an old man. The cushion in the center of the seat is gone so it's like I got enough seat on either side to hold me up. This has to be a common issue. Short of replacing the seat..what does anyone else w/ this issue do? I'll probably just use a cushion on it but I figured if theres something nifty out there I'll get that.

If you're sciatica is caused by compression on the lumbar or sacral nerves, then your best best is to get on of those wedge-type cushions with a cutout in the back for the coccyx / tailbone. With no pressure on the tailbone, the next vertebrae (the sacral) or the next higher up (the lumbars) won't have as much pressure. This would make extended seating and driving more bearable.

You should still get the middle of the cushions done either by yourself or by any upholstery shop. It shouldnt be too expensive. However, even with the center section fixed, you would still get pressure perpendicular to your spine - hence the cushion. Don't get gel type cushions as they wont really help. You need to isolate your tailbone from the equation.
