Ok I realized that I dont need to big boom that a sub would provide as much as I would enjoy some nice new clear speakers, which would make my music (DMB, Jack Johnson, etc) sound much better.
I was hoping to get some nice speakers to replace the ones in my 98 explorer with premium audio. I will be putting in a JVC Sh909 hu soon. I will get the speakers professionally installed, i dont want to run cable myself. Can you recommend some speakers, and if they require an amp, an amp that would power them well. Thanks a lot!
again, nothing super top of the line, im on a budget.

For your speakers, there is no need to run new wire unless you are gonna run tons of power to them' you can do it yourself easily.

Give some thought to component speakers for the fromt and some good 2 way 6 x 8 for the rear.

An amp to drive the front speakers would be nice. You do not need tons of power.

Good luck......

if you want some nice clear bass and dont care how much it costs you could go with a bazooka tube, it wont take up much space but also wont blow you away....i think most of them have built in amps so the cost would be about the same as buying an external amp but im not positive about the amp.....you may want to check crutchfield as a resource, but dont buy from them unless you cant find a cheaper place

all the components seem to be round, not very many are elliptical like the ones that fit our X's. Is there a bracket or a specific size that would work better?

Kenwood has a 6x8 component system, take a look at that. Yes, round is better for components but you'd be using a plate to mount a smaller 5.25" speaker.

ok one more thing.
Im looking at a hu installation kit. Not sure what I want.

Which do I want, it would be nice to have a pocket, but does that fit? My X is a 98 explorer with premium sound, and a double din hu.

Also the wiring harness.

I think I need the 02, can you guys confirm?
Thanks!

not sure if youve decided on your speakers yet but what i did was went with 2 6x9 300 watt pioneer 4 ways in the back ... yes 6x9 will fit however you will have to do a little custom work it took me about 2 hours to make mine fit perfectly.... they sound awesome.... i havent bought speakers for my front yet i wanted to see how much better the pioneer speakers sound compared to the stock speakers... ill put it like this when we go out on the weekends id rather ride in the back of my truck than in the front thats how much better they sound....
