i have an 04 sport trac and after a trip from Tampa Fl to Atlanta Ga.
when starting the truck for the return trip the trans was groaning and whining.
checked fluid levels and was about half a quart low on trans fluid so i add ford fluid and the noise went away. so i though next morning when heading to work it started again check fluid and it was right on the money but very dark. did not have time that day so the next day i took it to work and changed the filter and flushed the trans (no cleaners just fluid) and added the additive from ford.
how ever this is were the bigger problem is there was metal in the trans pan and not just the little bit of mattalic you always see i mean chunks. since i'm not a trans person what can i do to build or have built to make a bullet proof trans i plan on keeping this one for a while.
