need to get more camber!!!!

Sorry about the late response, I guess I have not looked at the Sport Truck section in a few days...shame on me.

Yes our goal is to take out the neg camber. With the factory camber plate you will rotate the plate inward as far as you can. That will get you close to zero, which is enough to not wear out your tires. Our experience is, if you go more than a 2" drop you will have trouble getting enough camber with the factor camber adjusters like we sell.

The aftermarket camber kit looks a lot like the Ford factory one that we use on late model Sport Tracs. They basicaly will get the same results as the plates do on a gen 2 X. We have not tried that particlular (E-BAY) kit, I do not know if it allows for more camber or not.

The more you go past 2" the more the ride quality will suffer anyway. We usually go with about 1.5" drop with different factory bump stops.

Here is a picture of the bolt & plate.

the ebay ones allow 1/2 degree more/less camber than the ford ones. i just installed them today and am getting an alignment tomorrow so we will see.

the ones I got at advanced auto parts gave .4 on the left and 1.6* on the right... just using the plates.
My ride quality hasn't suffered at all, except over huge dips. Other then that it's smooth. I think it has to do with the ARC shocks.

ditch em for some edelbrocks:D

How much did you pay the shop to install the camber kit and align ? Or did you install them yourself? If not, how much was labor alone. I've got to get this done too, and mines not even lowered. Its not fun to order new 20" tires every two months

I installed camber adjustes myself.... cheapest place wanted $30 a side for the adjusters + alignment.

So I had my friends digital camera today... decided to show how much having a bad alignment f#*(&$ed up my tires...

Inside of the front (the one that had the better alignment of the two):

rear tire:

first thing I'm doing over spring break is rotating them. I could kill the Ford dealer that couldn't get my alignment done in time for my trip.

btw: 2k since wheels put on, 1k since lowered. this has happened in all < 2kmi

I feel ya Hydroxy, I've got my stockers back on till I get 2 more tires and get the camber stuff straightened out. It sucks, and 18 and 20" tires aren't fun to buy.

This is the only reason I'm glad im not lowered :p

The thing is mines not even lowered. My tires, 255/35 20s (27" O.D.) are 2 inchs lower than the stock 235/75 15s. So it makes it sit a little lower. I'm going to lower the front an inch and maybe 2 in the back, just to fill up some fender.

Yeah Patrick (Hydroxy) is gonna help me install my camber adjusters this weekend and we'll probibly have a beautiful writeup for you n00bs here :p

my truck has about at 2 inch drop on it and so i bought the camber plates from Explorer Express to correct the camber on it. but when i took my truck to the shop they said that they couldnt use the plates i bought because 1) they need 8 of them (i only got 4)
2) looking at the holes on the plates they said the ones i got were only for one side of my car
they were suggesting that i go with the ones that they had in stock. Has n e one had they plates for X- express put in?i want to know if this shop is giving me the run around, or if X- express might have messed up my order( i know they ddnt:).

for my 95, the plates were exactly the same for each side of the truck. I dont know why on earth you would need 8. I just put 4 on. I dont even think you could put 8 on unless you doubled up. But I dont think there would be any usefulness to doubling up? They probably just dont know what they're talking about. Try bringing it to another place.

EE would not intentionally try and jip people, I'll tell you that much.

Also, did you compare the ones you had to the ones they had in stock? ifso, what were the differences?

nah i ddnt even bother to see the ones that they had cause like u said they ddnt seem to know what they were talking about and EE knows what they are doing. so i took my plates and walked outa that shop

The picture John put is Half a set. If you count the cam bolt as a seperate cam, then yeah, you need 8 cams. If you got it from EE im guessing they send you 4 cambolts and 4 cams.

The shop was trying to sell you theirs because they make a little money off the cam kit also.

to clarify, i bought the camber adjuster only (ZD5630A) from EE. and so i got only four cam plates. what i am curious about is that all the plates are exactly the same, that is if i lay them down facing up all the flat spots in the hole for the bolts to go through are in the same place, shouldnt two be in the opposite place, thus accomodating for left and right wheel placement? or are they indeed supposed to be all exactly alike?

Ok, I took dug out the stock camber thingamajigs (since they arn't adjustable, can't call the adjusters...). But anyways... I got my desk nice and greasy from, because I too began to wonder how exactly they were suppose to be. Here are the stock ones:

all the notches are pretty much the same place:
10058Picture010x.jpg

There are however two different pairs among the 4, one where the hole is either centered to the left and the other the right. Here are the two pairs stacked on each other.
10058Picture011z.jpg

And here they are showing the hole difference.
10058Picture013z.jpg

Here are one from each pair, one infront of the other. As you can see, the holes dont match up, but the notches are still on the same side.
10058Picture012x.jpg

I forget what my aftermarket ones looked like. But here is a comparison vs the stock ones for ya. I dont remember where each one came from, so I dont know which side the left or right centered one should be on etc.

Hope this helps somewhat

The holes on the stock cams don't line up because they are for a certain degree of camber. Don't worry about whether they are side specific or not(they're not). If you do them yourself, just take note of which way the little "washer" on the cam is and put the new one the same way.

edit-

Duh, just realized the reason for the flat area in the bolt is to prevent any mix up or anything, they can only go in one way. If you flip them the cam wont like up with the cam bolt and you won't even get it in.
