Well after doing a little more research and talking to James, I've decided to do an SOA in the rear. I don't really want 5" in the rear, more like 4", but this is the best way. I hope it still fits in the garage LOL.

So I will pick up the spindles, do the SOA which I have to do a little more research on, and get some new shocks. I think I might get those adjustable Rancho 9000s.

Since I'm not getting the whole Procomp kit, that should save me enough $$$ to stay within my budget.

Random question: Can you put 33x12.5s on a 15x8 rim or do you need a wider rim?

You want to stay with a 15x8. The tires will look great with this set-up.

Yeah you can fit 33x12.5's on a 15x8 rim. Ah man your truck is gonna look so awesome lifted. :bounce: Oh by the way, if you wanted an "off-road" rim kind of equal to your street rims, I think the 063 from Eagle Alloys would be sweet. It would be a cool transition from street to off-road but still keeping the whole 5 spoke thing. Series 063 Just an idea. Good luck with what's gonna be an awesome project.

I've changed my mind about the SOA again. After reading threads about the new shock locations, driveshaft problems, having to weld new perches on, etc. it just seems like a big hassle and I don't want that much lift to begin with. I might just do a single AAL and Warrior shackles in the rear and keep the torsions at stock for a 3" lift all around with 32s possibly. 5-6" in the rear is going to be more than I'm looking for.

there's really no point in me being lowered, but I don't want to be at stock height with stock wheels and tires. I want to lift it a bit.
Sigh. Ohh boy.

Its ok Ray I'm still here with ya :)

Ok yeah I definately want to do a AAL and shackles. Cost effective, and from what I've read, it will get me close to 4" of lift in the rear. That will allow me to adjust the front to match the back perfectly. How much lift is required in the front to clear 33x12.5s with no cutting? Hopefully it's 4" and not more.

LOL...you'll be next x-factor! ;) Hartman, can't wait to see how it turns out. I'm sure it will look great! You should be able to fit 33's with maybe minor trimming on an 8" wide rim with 3.75 backspace with 4" of lift. Are still planning the spindles up front and then a 1" TT?

What about some superleft 4'' springs? They sell them at www.truckperformance.com

Cost effectiveness Boomin.

And when I say minor, I'm saying the inner plastic fender well near the back of the front fender. (From my post above)

Here is my tentative plan:

15x8 Eagle 589s w/ 32x11.5 BFG Mud Terrain - DesertRat.com package $1058.22
ProComp spindles - $About 450
Warrior shackles - $About 60 DesertRat.com
AAL EXP-13120 - $About 50 Summit Racing
Rancho RS5000s - $About 170 for 4 DesertRat.com

That comes to a total of $1,788.22. That gives me a few hundred dollars leeway. All prices above have shipping factored in.

James has told me that the shackles/AAL in the rear should match the 3" spindles in the front so that's what I'm gonna go with. SOA in the rear is just too much lift for what I want.

4 inches of lift will fit 33's fine. I don't have a problem with it. I'm not sure how much different the 2nd gens would be but mine is alright. I've ran 33x10.50 on 15x7 and 33x12.50 on 15x8s with out any rubbing except at full turn.

Just expect to have a stiff ass ride in the back. Probably won't be as bad as mine was b/c you have an extra 10" wheelbase, but still, the AAL really hurts the ride quality (main reason you're lifting, that and SUV's are meant to be lifted ;)

You know, a 2" body lift is almost transparant and is very cheap. Do a 2" BL, TT, Shackles, call it a day. I've got plenty of pics of my ride with that setup and I'm running a 32x10.50 on stock rims (265/75R16)

My truck stands out just enough to make it different, but not enough to notice a serious decrease in stability (which will happen with a 4" lift). The ride height is perfect for everything I do (I can run some pretty difficult trails and have pics to prove it)

You've dropped alot in your truck, do you really want to drop another 2 grand just so things don't get stolen, but make it stand out in a different way? Not to try to be a voice of reason, but I'm very pleased with my setup.

I'm gonna do a AAL and see how I like it. If I don't, i'll do something about it. Can't be much worse than 3" blocks in the back.

I might do like a 1" body lift but that is it.

Have fun turning 33's with those gears

Can't be much worse than turning wheels that weigh nearly 80lbs a piece.

You will be okay for the time being. Arent you doing a V-8 swap also?

No V8 swap in the immediate future.

The 1" BL *should* be hella easy and i dont think you'll have to worry about lengthening/modifying everything like on a 3" BL. The easy part of a BL is getting the blocks in... the real PITA is bullcrap like the fanshroud, shift linkage, steering linkage, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

In summary, i would go with 3" spindle, shackle/AAL and a 1" BL. If you have some minor rubbing just do what i do and ignore it. :p
