well ive searched a couple of threads and didnt get any help, i want to connect my amp and subs to my factory premium JBL stereo, but i dont know how to. I got the pannel off but cant find a remote wire all ive found are lives. the only other thing i could think of is running a wire from the HU if i could find a remote from there.

I wouldn't want to do this because the factory hu's wont run as good a signal as a aftermarket hu would to your amp.

if you can't find a power antenna wire either (there isn't one on my non-mach CD/Cass/AM/FM) i'd say just splice it to a fused accessory wire. it's probably your best compromise.

well it looks like im going to have to get an aftermarket HU because my cd changer doesnt work and i tried another factory cd changer and that didnt work to, must be something inside the stereo, and the stereo shop told me that in order to get another cd changer id have to change the HU, which is was i was thinking was going to happen.

so im going to go aftermarket now, all this means is the 4 subs i bought a month ago, and the amp i bought 2 months ago could finally go in to my car.

i hope the subs dont knock anything off like it did in my Escort, took my rear view mirror off, could of probably did a lot more if i put it louder. :D

HA! In an SUV you're gonna get lower frequencies inside than in a little car. Good luck with your mirror!! hahaha!!! :smoke:

I used my factory HU to run my amp and subs, wanted to keep the stock look. I ran a new remote wire from an ignition wire and I used an adapter that turns the speaker wire coming from the factory amp to RCA's for my aftermarket amp. System works great.

thats what i had going right now, but now that my changer doesnt work and i cant listen to cd's no more i was thinking of going aftermarket now. i had gone to a stereo shop and they had a spare ford changer and tried it but it still said bad cd on the HU, so i took my changer apart and found that the cd didnt spin when it was trying to read, but then i got to thinking its got to be something within the whole stereo because the other changer should of worked. unless theres an aftermarket changer that could connect to the factory HU my only other choice is to go aftermarket on the deck too, im going to look in to it a bit to see if i could keep the stock look. it would suck if it still didnt work even with an aftermarket changer connected.

you could use an aftermarket cd changer but you would have to use it through a fm modulator which plugs into you antenna wire and runs the changer through a station. It works pretty good but not as good as a new HU. But that is another option.

going through hell changing to an aftermarket HU

ok i was looking at what i was working with to install an aftermarket HU, and found that there is no wire harness made for my stereo (well there is one for the power but for the speakers there is none made for it.). so my choices are either to cut the plug, fabricate my own, or add an aftermarket amp for the door speakers and connect the speakers to that, im going to try to fabricate one first, but then my brother was telling me that the stereo might be sending a signal to the amp for the speakers not power, so if i were to connect the speaker terminal to the HU wires i might mess something up and i was thinking maybe hes right, but i was still going to consider doing it to see if he was right.

P.S. the guy at the stereo shop told me that i should bypass the amp and run the wires from there to the HU or aftermarket amp.

ok i found out that the way i wanted to do it wont work, so im left with bypassing the amp. im thinking im better off running the wires from each speaker to my aftermarket amp, or using the bypass connecter to the amp, i dont think changing the wire to a lower guage will make much of a difference, so i think ill just go from the bypass wire to the aftermarket amp.

oh and i found out that the antena wire is well...like i said a wire not a plug, the plug is pluged in to the amp in the back. so my solution for this... ¿go find an antena plug and connect it to the wire? well thats what im considering as it will be better than splicing the wire which is what im trying not to do.
