The hinges on my 1993 Explorer Sport sunroof came loose. As a result, the glass flew off and shattered into a billion, or so, pieces. Thank God there was no one behind me. I have a complete replacement sunroof and I need a bit of help swapping it out. I have never done this before and I don't know where to start. I'm a handy guy, so I don't think I'll have a problem once I have the right instructions. Any help from y'all is appreciated! Thanks!

well assuming the hinges are attached to the new glass all you would have to do is put the new glass inplace of the old one just as if you took the glass out to enjoy the air.

The hinges are attached to the frame. NOT the glass. When the hinges let loose, going 65 MPH, the sunroof was CLOSED. The air got up underneath the glass and ripped the glass off. So, as a result, the clips that hold the opposite end of the sunroof in place (where you have the knob to raise/lower it) is hopelessly damaged. I need to replace THE WHOLE THING.

Just curious was the sunshade on?

can not say how to do it only that one time I got to see a flying moon roof glass on the freeway in front of me only problem was I was on my bike not a fun place or thing o be in the middle of but thank goodness for a good wind screen to duck behind . Your story just reminded me of it and how I had to change my shorts from it. .

Replacement I would say LLM or a wrecker for parts and a wrecker for even how to fix it maybe by seeing one up close that is still good if you can find one.

when i bought my second Navajo, the first thing i noticed was the "custom" sunroof, it looks like the original owner had the same issue as you and everything was damaged beyond repair, and what they did was take a sunroof from a larger truck and cut a larger hole into the roof of the Navajo. they fit the new one in and had a completely different latching assembly, but it works great.
its a different idea, if you consider it i could take pictures.

LMC wants $500 for the damn glass alone. Holy smokes.

I believe the first step is to remove the head liner. From there you will be able to get a better view of the sun roof. I'm guessing it has some find of adhesive and the sunroof just sits in from the top therefore removed by pushing it back up?

Mine has been leaking pretty bad. I hate getting rained on. It just pours in on he if its raining hard, coming in from the back side. So I may be right behind you soon. Either way I have some cigarette burns in the head liner and could replace that at the same time. Thank good my father has the material but the head liner board is all one piece.
