NEED TO REPLACE D/S MIRROR W/LIGHT?

SOMEONE SMASHED INTO MY DRIVE SIDE MIRROR AND BROKE IT.....I NOW NEED TO REPLACE THE WHOLE UNIT...NO ONE SELLS JUST THE MIRROR PART EVERYTHING ELSE IS FINE...MY QUESTION IS HAS ANYONE REMOVED THEIR MIRROR AND IF SO HOW DO I DO IT....I HAVE THE MIRROR WITH THE LIGHT ON THE BOTTOM.

First of all you can pick up one pretty cheap on ebay i see them going for like 40 to 50 bucks. They are pretty easy to swap out i did it a few months ago. you have to take off the door panel then you will see the bolt in the door pillar holding it in place. just undo that and disconnect the wiring harness with a quick disconnect. Reverse the procedure and thats it.

how do i remove the door panel?

the link on this site on how to remove the door panel does not work. can any one help me out?

If your 99 x has the same door panel as my 98 then first thing is to look for a screw right behind the door handle. unscrew that and the small plastic part behind the handle should come out. Then take a flat head screwdriver and starting from the bottom slowly apply pressure to pop the panel out. its held in with some clips. assuming its the first time the panel is being taken off the clips will be pretty tight so you will need to give it a good amount of pressure. After you loosen it from all the clips, slide the panel up and it should come right off. there is some wiring back there which you can disconnect if you want to get it out of the way but not necessary. hope this helps.
