Need your help!

Hey guys, just joined this forum. I'm going to be buying a new vehicle within the next month and I am looking at getting a 2002-2005 Explorer Limited V8. Which year(s) would be the best to be looking at? I want to do some light moding to the vehicle so is there some years that are better for that than others? Thanks for your help. -Eric

What kind of mods do you want to do? If you want any kind of real lift, you're out of luck with a 3rd gen; you'd have to go with a 1st or 2nd gen X.

It would mainly just be engine work. CAI, programer, supercharger/turbo (in the future) along with just some cosmetic mods. If anything I would probably lower it slightly but still keep it useful as an SUV to tow my snowmobiles.

04 and up have throttle by wire, so the CAI's are limited in the kind you can get. K&N makes one for the V8, but not the 6. I have an 04 Limited an love it. (you saw my thread with the pics)

the 02s and 03s have a wired throttle body as well
