MAJ

Mid Atlantic Jeepers - a Jeep club based out of Richmond that is pretty active in VA. Donkey Boy sold his Explorer for a vehicle that would be allowed in that club!! LOL .

Hey, anyone up for a run in the GWNF around HArrisionburg after the 1st of the year? I was supposed to go on a ride last weekend and the weekend before but I have no time - hopefully after the holidays -maybe even during the christmas week. Brian e-mailed and said he wanted to go after he gets his clutch fixed. Maybe have some snow ride action? If I get a couple of pings here Ill start a new thread if anyones interested- Explorer, Ranger, BII family.
A possible plan : with snow and Ice possible probably do up OLD long run, down second mtn, and across to Dry river, and Kephart if time and group size permits. Stockers w9ith patience wont have any problems. We'll see whats up and who, then we can pick a trail.

I'd definitely like to go on another run at GWNF. I was actually thinking of asking you if you'd like to lead one again sometime in January.

I suggest waiting until the first of the year. The week of Christmas is quite busy for most people.

About how many people do you think would be a good number to have there? It's cool having more people, but too many means less time for extra trails. 7 or 8 possibly? Give me a date and a number and I'm sure I could get some ECX members to attend.

Pretty active? That's what I was told. But since I have sent my check, I've never been contacted by them anymore. But I have been so busy that I also did not have thetime to contact them of my part...

A ride in January would be perfect and .... heh, wait a minute: Where do I fit in in the Explorer, Ranger and Bronco II Family???? I would love to join you guys, but I will not rebadge my WJ for that occasion with blue ovals!!

Seriously now, if you don't mind an Non-Explorer, I would love to tag along in January, but's it's your call.

yob, I would not be too worried about too many people showing up for the ride. If all of us who have been on rides come (SteveVB, PaulN, Mtndog, Ru Man, yob yeknom, me and there were I think 2 more on our first, clean-up ride) and if maybe Tim (noboundries) finally joins us, we would be not more than 8 or 9, which should be no problem on those trails except maybe on Kephart, and Dictum. But Dictum with snow could anyhow not be to everybodys gusto.

I have about 20 members in my Chapter of the ECX alone, 15 of which I think would come if they were invited. The surrounding Chapters could get even more people interested. I know that some of the guys from PA asked me when they could come down here and wheel with me.
It'd be great if a buttload of people could come, but, as you know, the trails are too small for very many people.

SIZE...

Well, to some extent size matters - Ive been on rides (2 weeks ago) with 25+ vehicles and close to 50 people. It was OK, you dont get to talk to everyone, and there isnt as much stopping to BS and advise(more BSing!!!)

One nice thing about GW is that we can find trails to fit the groups or we can split if the numbers are such that its necessary.

I like a mid sized group of 5-7 but Ive also been out with 10 and thats fine also- most of the trails arenmt super technical so they are OK for larger groups of say 10.

I would say see who wants to come and well adjust the run if we need to or seperate into 2 groups. :exp: :yelexp:

Ill look at Jan see if the 2 or 3rd week would be ok. Ill start a thread (or anyone can if I dont do it before I head out in a few minutes- copy the note from yesterday) for a run in Jan the 2nd or 3rd week and then nail it down after this weekeknd (when my family is together and we can cross schedules)

Maybe I can get my new gears installed by the ride-that would be nice- a little motivation, something to shoot for. :bounce:

Steve,

let me know the date(s) and I can get some interest.

It'd be nice if we could do a two day thing. Saturday and Sunday of one weekend. One day seems so short when you're having so much fun. What do you think?

John,

Im going to start another thread with an invite for the second or third weekend in Jan see what the response is.

As for a weekend , I think its great idea, but I think it would be better in the spring. If people want to camp the weather will be better, also some of the trails may be icy in Jan so the selection is smaller-although with the weather so far thats not an issue, but in the next month it might.
I would suggest a Explorer,Ranger,BII bash in the spring (May)with two days of trail running, that would be fun.

That makes sense. I'll just pass the word to the Virginia Chapter for the Jan. run. Having people from far away show up for one day of possibly not many trails would really suck for them.
If you want to do another run in May, I'll invite the entire ECX. Two days and lots of trails would be worth a trip.

Check the other thread linked to in my previous post for some directions.

Im outta Virginia Beach,..sweet places to go off-roading around here, sand pits by the Lesner Bridge, Pungo:D , Sandbrigde, Lagamar Mud/Sand Pit, places scattered about, but overall lots of big and small places for wheelin, most of it mud and sand :D

I ain't believe this tread is still being used. I started it alittle over a year ago.

Hey there guys... I just got my server back up and am back online, yay! I think i saw donkeyboy sai di am from va too. I am just norht of richmond. I know of a couple of trails in freds. and there are a few short ones around here but they are monitored by the cops every now and again. But anyway, i'd be interested in the gwnp trip, just as long as people wouldn;t mind a 2wd going. I have some mods donw to help me, but still is 2wd. i'll go post in the other thread... adios guys

Chris

Chris,

I can't open the link in your sig. Is your Ex red, lifted with I think a crome nerf bar? If yes, then I saw you a couple of times, but always driving in the opposite direction :( Last time about 2 months ago at the intersection Nuckols/Cox. I was flashing my lights, but which Explorer driver cares when a white Grand Cherokee flashes the lights at them :D

As far as GWNF: It depends a lot of the snow. If there is little snow left, if you are locked in therear and most of all, as long as you have decent tow hooks front and rear, I think you should be fine.

P.S. Your link works now; for sure it was you I saw!
