I'm looking to install ride tech shockwave air struts on my 05 explorer xlt 4x4 auto. Does anyone have or know the best way to obtain the measurements of the stock struts at ride height, bottomed out and maxed out at the upper and lower mount points?

IIRC the measurements for the front struts are as follows, as measured from the flat surface of the strut to the center of the lower strut mount bolt:

Fully Compressed: 18.67"
At ride height: 20.5"
Fully Extended: 21.5
Total Strut travel: 2.83"

Not 100% sure on the rears.

Hawaii and Ronin, thanks for the links and info. What's the difference between the 05 explorer and the 03-06 expeditions. Reason I ask is because ride tech has the shockwaves for the expeditions front and rear ifs and irs. If they are one and the same I will just order the expedition system. Thanks again for all ya'lls help.

You would need to make custom mounts for those to fit as the explorer and expedition are quite different. Besides, for that kind of money you can do a custom coil overset up and be, I think, much happier with it.

X2... A system made for a expedition would ride like **** on a x seeing as they weigh way less...

Not even close on how they bolt up and at that price you could get something custom made that will work way better....

Looks like its back to the drawing board I go

Well, APPARENTLY there is about to be a bolt-on coil over setup for the front available :D
