2002 XLT
Hi Guys,
I have a 2002 XLT with premium sound. The stock CD/cassette player (double DIN) and speakers are OK but it is too plain for my taste. I don't need a killer system that will shatter the windshields of the cars next to me but at least something that will make my daily commute and occasional long driving more enjoyable. I want a new CD player with at least 6 CD changer and also replace my front and rear speakers. If possible, I want to have the cd changers installed in front where I can easily reach it. We usually listen to pop/easy music (heavy metals need not apply...lol) if that helps. I am close by GoodGuys, Circuit City and Best Buy.

Please recommend a good brand system. By the way, my budget is $1000 or less. He he he...thats the most that I can beg (on bended knees) from the wify :-)

Thanks in advance.

Mark

Thanks

Hey echomakr,
Thanks for the advise. I looked at the specs of Blaupunkt Tokyo and they look good. As far as the speakers are concerned, I'm partial to Infinity Kappa series. You hit the mark on that one.

Now I only need to find a good installer in the San Francisco area.

If your dash is double din it will.

JL Subs are the way to go; W0's or W3's , or new W7's if you would like to opt for hearing loss

My sister has a Nakamichi M-75 six disk, single DIN changer/receiver in her Camry. The unit is quite impressive.

I also recommend the Nakamichi unit with built-in changer. In terms of sound quality, Blaupunk is no match for Nakamichi. Then, replace F&R speakers with Polk Audio dX7s.

If you want more bass, get two 10" JLs and hook them up to a decent quality amp.

Good Stuff

If i were you i get some good quality amplifers like Zapco, PPI, or Soundstream. I try to stick with Zapco though they make some very good equipment.

Then i probably get some Focal Polykevlar or Utopia speakers. If you really like loud tweets get MB Quarts.
If you are mainly want they high Quality sound in front is suggest that you get a Very nice pair of components for the front and through a lower cost coaxil speaker.

For a sub if your only looking for sound quality and accuracy i get the Image Dynamics IDQ's or if you want something with power the IDMAX. JL are a all around type sub.

Good Luck.
