Needs to be louder

Hi, I have a 1999 Ford Explorer Sport and I really want to make it louder. I don't want to buy an exhaust, I just want to know where I can take a few bolts off or something to give it that mean sound. Thanks!:exp:

what engine do you have 4.0 ohv 4.0 sohc or the 5.0?

Take a sharp screwdriver and punch lots of holes in the muffler.

Unfortunately the 5.0 was never offered by Ford in the Sport models.

Poking holes in your exhaust system, or intentionally creating leaks, is a really bad idea. it can cause carbon monoxide to leak into the cab and can even kill you. If you want more noise, replace the muffler, although to my ear 6 cylinders with loud exhaust sound like crap. JMO.

A loud exhaust does not necessarily mean increased performance. If you just want to get noticed buy a can of orange spray paint and paint large tiger paws on the outside of your Sport in random places.

It will only cost you a few bucks and won't add to noise pollution.
